Philip van den Boogaard. Long distance cyclist, bikepacker. glamping maestro, as well as snow-boarder, sailor and kite-surfer.
On his Alubooyah fatbike and cart he rides great distances. Through Europe, perhaps one day the world. Raised in Amsterdam he was always around bicycles and rode everything from city bangers to MTB's, including BMX's and road bikes. These days he is based in Berlin, where the bicycle is also is his main means of transport. Berlin is also the starting point for the rides.
He travels in style. The cart contains a tent in which Eleanor, the Alubooyah finds shelter. An airbed, USB coffeemaker, heater are just a few things that make his life on the road comfortable.
Eleanor: the Alubooyah fatbike
He built the bike himself. A frame, a fork and a multitude of boxes. The Alubooyah frame is made of bamboo and alumnum. This gives a very comfortable and agile ride. The fork is a carbon Carver O'Beast. Sram was chosen for the main components and luxury was added with a leather covered saddle and grips of the same material.
Wheels weren't readily available with the proper hub sizes, so he laced them himself. Every part went through his hands, which is a big asset on the road. Know your bike.
You'll find the spec list below.

November 2018 The maiden voyage was made from Maastricht to Berlin. With some detours, this came to well over 800km with quite some altitude to conquer. Despite being this late in the season, the weather conditions were fair to good, with one two-day raincheck. Eleanor held up great on this first voyage, not even a flat.
2019 Rides are being planned. Where he will take Eleanor is yet undecided. That it will be exciting is a sure thing.
Sponsorship & Support
I can be your tester and will be your brand ambassador. These trips with 40 kilos of luguage are hard on the components and myself. The circumstances are sometimes extreme, so your support is welcome.
There is advertising space on the cart and on clothing, you can get mentioned on my TouTube channel and Facebook and Instagram accounts as well as on the FB groups I engage in. Eleanor is fitted with three action cams and multiple mounting points, which will provide the weekly video on my channel. These are just a few of the possibilities for a fruitfull cooperation. Get in touch.
